Lindsay Lohan and TOWIE’s Lucy Mecklenburgh are fans. Made in Chelsea stars Millie Mackintosh and Hugo Taylor even got engaged there. Here’s why Kenshō has been named the world’s best new hotel.
Boutique hotels first emerged in the 1980s as a colourful alternative to the cookie-cutter uniformity of established hospitality chains.
The industry took notice as demand for small, independent hotels in fashionable urban locations took off. As a result, large hospitality brands started buying into the trend, flooding the market with “boutique” residences of their own.
However, truly intimate hideaways in stunning locations are still incredibly popular, particularly among celebrities – and none more so than Kenshō.
Is Kenshō the world’s best boutique hotel?
The Boutique Hotel Awards recently named Kenshō Europe’s Best New Hotel and the World’s Best New Hotel.
Judges made their decision based on five categories, the most important being service and overall emotional feel.
Kenshō Boutique Hotel and Suites is in Ornos on the Greek island of Mykonos, renowned for its melting sunsets, cosmopolitan vibes and chic boutiques.
Kenshō is a five-star hotel comprising 35 individually designed and furnished rooms and suites. Guests can enjoy stunning panoramic views over Ornos Bay before relaxing in the sauna, Hammam and twin massage rooms.
For food lovers, executive chef George Stylianoudakis creates authentic Cretan dishes such as Wagyu Beef Stifado and Lobster and King Crab.
If rubbing shoulders with celebs is on your holiday checklist, then Kenshō is for you.
Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan, TOWIE’s Lucy Mecklenburgh and Neighbours star Ryan Thomas have all visited the hotel since it opened its doors in June 2016.
Made in Chelsea stars Millie Mackintosh and Hugo Taylor got engaged while staying in the hotel’s Vista Suite. The couple also enjoyed a romantic stay in the hotel’s cave-like whirlpool, known as the Cave.
Nicole Scherzinger, Maria Carey and Cristiano Ronaldo are also fans of Mykonos, regularly indulging in the island’s pristine beaches and bars.
The LaLiT London
Boutique hotels are synonymous with trendy urban locations and the award-winning LaLiT London is no exception. Kenshō may have a rival for the title of world’s best boutique hotel.
Judges at the 9th annual European Hospitality Awards named LaLiT London near Tower Bridge Best Boutique Hotel.
The LaLiT London features three standout rooms. The majestic Great Hall offers a unique dining experience. Guests can also enjoy a glass of cognac or champagne in the Victorian opulence of the Headmaster’s Room.
However, if contemporary class is more your thing, then the Teacher’s Room is ideal for evening drinks and cocktails.
In addition to 70 individually crafted guestrooms and suites, the hotel also offers 24-hour room service and the Rejuve spa, which offers a holistic experience combining Eastern & Western therapies.
