Zebra Technologies in the US says its new R110Xi RFID printer/ encoder is now XML-enabled.
The company believes it is the first to bring to market an Extensible Markup Language (XML)-enabled barcode and RFID smart label printing solution designed for companies using ERP warehousing and supply chain/logistics software, such as that from Oracle and SAP.
Zebra says XML is increasingly being used to provide more flexible and adaptable information identification for the open exchange of data between applications, peripherals and trading partners. It is also “gaining widespread use in EDI, ERP and manufacturing systems”.
“XML-enabled printers provide significant advantages wherever the need exists for high volume barcode and RFID label printing,” says Jon Chorley, senior director, Oracle Inventory and Warehouse Management.
“Zebra’s innovative hardware provides an excellent option for generating labels on demand, without requiring additional hardware and middleware.”
