Under a new agreement, Xaar’s 1001 piezoelectric printheads will be supplied for use in EFI-Jetrion’s 4000 Series full colour UV inkjet label printers. Available in web widths of 139 or 210mm, the printers will use eight or 12 of the Xaar heads.
First shown Labelexpo Europe, the Jetrion 4000 is said to give narrow web converters an affordable, full colour alternative to toner based printers. Incorporating Xaar inkjet technology into the printers will enable converters to benefit from added flexibility and cost effectiveness for applications such as labels, tags, forms and tickets on a variety of substrates, it is claimed.
Dr Kenneth Stack, vice president and general manager of EFI-Jetrion, states: “We chose the Xaar 1001 head because we needed a printhead that offered the high reliability required for web applications. With Xaar’s dynamically variable drop size capability, the 4000 Series can take full advantage of Jetrion’s industry leading ink technology and EFI’s Fiery XF colour management solutions.”
Chris Lynn, vp sales and marketing of Xaar’s US subsidiary, adds: “By controlling all aspects of the printing process, from colour correction to ink formulation, EFI-Jetrion has achieved stunning image quality that is sure to accelerate market demand for these digital solutions”.
Xaar is also qualifying EFI-Jetrion’s range of UV inks for use with the 1001 printhead.
