Voith and Trützschler in nonwovens partnership

Paper machine manufacturer Voith Paper and nonwovens specialist Trützschler are co-operating to offer a complete production line for the manufacture of wet-laid and hydroentangled nonwovens.

Paper machine manufacturer Voith Paper and nonwovens specialist Trützschler are co-operating to offer a complete production line for the manufacture of wet-laid and hydroentangled nonwovens.

"This partnership will enable us to offer convincing machine concepts", says Marc Wolpers, sales director of Trützschler Nonwovens & Man-Made Fibres. "By providing common solutions we can meet the market requirements in a much better and faster way than we ever could by acting independently".

Voith Paper’s HydroFormer is the core component in the co-operation. It has been specifically optimised for the formation of wet-laid nonwovens and, with more than 70 successful installations, gained worldwide acceptance. Voith also offers support for stock and water systems, press concepts, fabrics and calendars.

Trützschler know-how is applied in the bonding area. Web bonding is performed downstream of the former with the help of the company’s AquaJet hydroentanglement technology. Trützschler can draw on extensive experience from more than 100 projects in this field.

As an expert in complete production lines for nonwovens, the company is also responsible for drying and winding within the framework of the joint project.

"This co-operation allows us to offer our customers a complete line ranging from wet laying, bonding, to drying and winding", concludes Dr Klaus Afflerbach, responsible for special machines at Voith Paper. "The combination of two wet processes – HydroFormer and AquaJet – results in a high quality web that is of interest to manufacturers of cleaning cloths throughout the world."
