Information technology firm Syntel has partnered with Esko, a Belgium-based graphic arts and digital asset management company, for life sciences labeling and packaging solutions.
Esko is engaged in the production of prepress software and hardware products that manage labeling, packaging design and print processes.
As per the deal, Syntel intends to integrate Esko’s products into Syntel’s existing suite in a bid to strengthen its existing portfolio of labeling and packaging solutions for the medical devices and pharmaceutical industries.
The deal also provides access to Syntel to Esko’s training and support, as well as its software products, which will be incorporated into Syntel’s existing portfolio.
Syntel vice-president and Life Sciences business unit head Narendar Reddy said: “Today’s medical devices and pharma companies must handle complex and varied international labeling standards and packaging requirements.
“Our solutions are delivered in a unique, automation-driven managed or shared services model that enables clients to respond to a fast-changing marketplace and stay compliant at all times with the highest possible quality.”
The two firm are planning to collaborate on implementations across the US and Europe.
The deal will help medical devices and pharmaceutical manufacturers, who are being subjected to changing regulatory requirements, such as the European Union Medical Device Regulations.
These regulations mandate devices and pharmaceutical manufacturers to incorporate large-scale changes to the way they create and change their products’ labels and packages.
Reddy said: “We believe that partnering with Esko will strengthen our services by enabling us to provide integrated IT and process support for Esko’s industry-leading products, making it easier for our clients to achieve the visibility and flexibility that today’s life sciences industry demands.”
Syntel said its labeling and packaging services will help in reducing waste, eliminate product recalls, and deliver products to the market faster.
