Sato claims RFID package is a first

Sato, the company that claims to have introduced the first ever thermal barcode printer, has launched what it says is the industry’s first complete multi-protocol, EPC-compliant RFID solutions service for customer pilots and beta tests.

It can now offer pre-planning consultation, on-site surveys, pilot planning and implementation and post-pilot consultation alongside its new CL408e and CL412e UHF RFID printers, which use an open architecture upgradable as new standards and protocols develop.

Sato has also formed an alliance with US RFID hardware supplier SAMSys Technologies, through which SAMSys will produce RFID readers for its printers. Using UHF chips embedded in the labels, the SAMSys module enables printers to print the label and program the chip simultaneously.
