Saica, a corrugated cardboard paper manufacturer, has acquired French corrugated case material and corrugated packaging manufacturer Emin Leydier.
The acquisition will allow Saica to expand its production capacity of recycled corrugated case material and corrugated board in Europe.
It will help to increase recycled paper production for corrugated cardboard by 800,000 tonnes to reach 3.3 million tones.
Emin Leydier owns eight industrial facilities in France, including two paper mills with three machines, four integrated plants and two sheet plants.
The group, which employs around 1,029 people, generated sales of around €380m in the last year.
Emin Leydier produces photo-quality printed packaging solutions to attract consumers and increase sales, resistant packaging solutions to protect at any circumstance and easy-to-use packaging solutions as per supply chain needs.
With customers in all over Europe, Emin-Leydier provides its packaging solutions to the food, industrial and e-commerce sectors.
In October 2016, Saica Group agreed to acquire Irish-owned Americk Packaging Group of companies.
Americk produces labels and cartons, as well as environmental and flexible packaging solutions.
The company manufactures reel-fed, self-adhesive, in-mould, board, liner-less, cut and stack, peel and reseal and other labels for the food, chemical, household, dairy, beverage, horticulture, cosmetics and health sectors.
Americk manufactures cartons for different sectors, including food, healthcare, beverage, petcare and healthcare.
With around 9,000 employees, Saica produces sustainable solutions for the recycled paper and board packaging market.
The company carries out operations in Spain, Italy, Portugal UK, Ireland, Turkey and Luxembourg.
Saica operates three divisions such as Paper, Natur and Pack. The paper division operates four mills with seven machines in Spain, France and the UK.
The environmental or NATUR Division operates more than 50 paper collection/recycling sites, in Spain, Portugal, France and the UK.
Saica’s packaging division operates 43 corrugating plants, in Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Ireland and the UK.
