Retail consumer packaging provider Rohrer has acquired US-based Transparent Container, a designer and manufacturer of retail packaging solutions.
Transparent Container, which is headquartered in Addison, Illinois, employs over 400 people across six locations.
The company designs and manufactures retail packaging solutions, including blister and club packaging, clamshells, and printed plastic and paperboard folding cartons.
Rohrer said Transparent Container provides it with further thermoforming capacity, extended product range, and the largest combination run program for printed and thermoformed visual packaging products in the world, all under its ezCombo program.
More than 1000 people will be employed in the combined Rohrer and Transparent Container organization, which will have 11 manufacturing plants throughout North America.
Rohrer president and CEO Steve Wirrig said: “We’re very proud and excited to team with the great people of Transparent Container in providing customers the most innovative, eye-catching and cost-effective consumer packaging in the industry.
“This demonstrates our clear commitment to customers in providing a one-stop shop, making it even easier to do business with Rohrer. We’re uniquely positioned to offer the largest array of packaging solutions that clearly target the building of customer brands and bottom lines.”
Transparent Container chairman Dan Greiwe and president Scott Greiwe will stay with the company as advisory board members.
Dan Greiwe said: “This is a great opportunity for the people of Transparent Container to align with an industry leader and strengthen our mutual organizations toward becoming the preferred packaging partner to growth brands.”
Rohrer, which was established in 1973, is claimed to be the largest supplier of high-visibility retail consumer packaging in the US.
Rohrer’s capabilities include a range of printed paperboard products and thermoformed plastic products.
In May this year, Rohrer said its ezCombo builds brands and bottom lines with variety and speed.
ezCombo is a collection of programs crafted by merging of both Rohrer and CardPak’s offerings.
With ezCombo, brands purchase only the space they need for their product packaging, able to share a press sheet or form with other customers.
