Rapid Action Packaging (RAP), the manufacturer of “ecologically sound” paper and film packaging for salads, wraps and sandwiches, has formed a new division to focus on sales of its products to UK and mainland European packaging distributors serving smaller, independent food retailers.
The company, which manufactures packs such as its patented printed board sandwich wedge with PLA/corn starch window at food grade plants in the Irish republic, says the independent food-on-the-go sector, comprising retailers with between one and 50 shops, is “immense”, adding: “These operators are unable to commit to the order quantities typically prescribed by RAP when selling bespoke products into its traditional market of the multiples. RAP has devised a range of stock products for the independents, giving smaller retailers access to RAP’s renowned range of high-end, environmentally responsible packaging for their salad, wrap and sandwich ranges.”
“The independent sector represents a substantial slice of the food-on-the-go marketplace,” adds RAP sales director Martin Beaver. “This sector has not previously had access due to our minimum volume constrains. Our new product range will provide such access.”
