DS Smith’s plastics unit Rapak Europe has introduced new bag-in-box tamper evident screwcap adapter system in Germany.
Rapak´s sister firm Worldwide Dispensers developed the new adapter with an external tamper evident ring.
The undisclosed German dairy company is the first customer to use the screwcap adapter system, which is a hygienic tamper evident solution when dispensing liquid foods.
The adapter helps in providing better tightness and restricts leakage, helping to improve the safety and integrity of the product.
The external tamper evident ring can be viewed from all angles, offering direct permanent evidence of initial opening.
Suitbale for a range of glands, the adapter can be connected to quick-serve taps, coupling adapters, piercing membranes and pump systems.
With a hole on the top of the box, the tamper evident screwcap adapter enables the product to dispense directly from bag-in-box through a pump.
The universal adapter can be used with different bag-in-box products such as liquid egg, sauces, dairy, edible oil, home and personal care liquids.
According to the company, the adapter’s ring is retained on the fitment, helping to prevent the risk of product contamination.
In January this year, Worldwide Dispensers launched a new dispensing tap, VINIflow, for bag-in-box edible oil.
The tap has been developed to provide smooth pouring flow and maintain oil viscosity while serving from bag-in-box packaging.
DS Smith’s new tap, which complies with new legislation, is an expansion of the VINIflow tap that is used for different bag-in-box product applications such as wine, juice, dairy and water.
