Packaging firm Prolamina Corporation has begun work on the refurbishment of its Westfield facility in Massachusetts, US, to make room for new manufacturing equipment and administrative operations.
Prolamina, which caters to food, medical and specialty markets, has been operating the 250,000ft2 facility for the past 30 years.
The manufacturing unit in Westfield offers flexible packaging solutions, such as, extrusion coated and laminated film and paper, metalized and adhesive laminated film and paper, foil and coated fabricto, to meet various industrial requirements.
The biggest refurbishment since the establishment of the facility will include exterior and interior beautification, technological upgrade and environmental initiatives.
Besides accommodating new manufacturing equipment, the renovation work envisages either repairing or replacing the roof, building main maintenance and rehabilitation, as well as undertaking air quality and flooring improvements.
Prolamina’s Westfield unit provides employment to over 250 people and functions round-the-clock.
