Esko Equinox has been added to Athena Graphics' portfolio to complete its Advanced Prepress workflow, an end-to-end solution for brand owners and packaging printers.
Esko Equinox creates color conversions for expanded gamut printing and removes the need for spot colors.
Equinox is a module of Esko’s color management solution: Color Engine. It features spot color conversion software, image conversion tools and a proofing solution.
It provides all the functionality to convert users' packaging print files to the extended gamut.
Equinox color management solution holds capacity to convert any color into four to seven process colors. With the support of fixed set of inks, the printer can reduce downtime of the presses.
Equinox’s extended gamut printing will provide better printing results compared to conventional spot color printing.
As per the requirement of brand owner, Equinox can be used with standard or extended ink set.
Equinox will help to reduce inventory of spot color inks and achieve brand color matching across printing technologies.
Athena Graphics technical project manager Kenneth Hostyn said: “Packaging printers and brand owners have become used to digital print, which uses a fixed set of printing colors.
“With our Advanced Prepress technology we can obtain the same and even better quality by using process colors instead of spot colors. By converting spot colors into process colors, our customers can increase their production speed and even improve their quality.
“Combined with the modern presses of our customers and our high-tech platemaking, quality is no longer an issue when using process colors.”
With around 100 employees, Athena Graphics provides prepress, printing forms and online services to the entire packaging chain. They serve brand owners in diverse sectors ranging from the food industry to pharmaceuticals.
