Sansetsu UK sees record increase in year on year sales thanks to Illuminis software solution

The global packaging industry is all about on-demand delivery of highly specialist materials at a competitive price. Forward stock planning plays a critical role in achieving this but is often nothing more than guesswork.

Now there is a business software system, Illuminis, that is enabling Sansetsu, the UK’s leading manufacturer of protective bubble film, to do this forward planning more accurately and cost effectively than ever before and to see record sales of factored product lines as a result.

Illuminis was originally developed as an on-demand sales and business intelligence tool able to deliver current business performance data that is highly adaptable to individual client needs. It is through this sophisticated customisation function that the software is able to specifically analyse forward stock planning data.

"We sell £1m worth of factored product into the UK industrial packaging industry every year," said Julie Rowlands, MD of Sansetsu UK.

"Our European source factory shuts down for most of August so we have to order in June to guarantee supply during the summer. Before we had Illuminis, we frequently under or over stocked on certain lines causing delivery issues for our customers. Now, we are able to easily extract year on year, or even month on month figures to identify key product group sales. We mail merge this with individual customer information to produce a simple forward planning template.

We can then place all our orders in plenty of time, confident we will not let any of our customers down during the summer period. The 16% increase in bought-in product group sales we saw this summer shows how critical this accurate planning now is to our business.

For us, Illuminis is able to deliver an unprecedented level of visibility on live business performance, product sales and future customer demand."

Paul North, IT Director at Illuminis explains how it works: "The data required for stock planning was actually already available in Sansetsu’s accounting system, but it was very difficult to access so no-one did! Working with the Sansetsu team we customised their Illuminis installation to provide quick, easy analysis and sales comparisons over various time periods. We were also able to filter the data in the areas such as product groups, items, delivery addresses and so on which are critical to this type of forward planning."
