Private equity firm NCK Capital has invested in Pennsylvania-based food by-product recycling firm Graybill Processing.
Graycliff Partners has collaborated with NCK Capital to offer subordinated debt and equity financing to Graybill.
Graybill has been recycling food by-products in Pennsylvania for more than two decades. It gathers food manufacturing by-products such as packaged candy, raw candy inputs and bakery goods and processes it into animal feed for hogs, dairy cattle and beef cattle.
The company also provides trucking, paper and cardboard recycling, cocoa shell mulch production, and logistics and waste-management consulting services to food producers, in addition to by-product recycling.
Based in Elizabeth, Graybill operates 50,000ft² facility, and serves farmers, feed mills and food producers across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
Graybill Processing is engaged in providing customized waste solutions for food producers. It provides producers with services ranging from dock setup to proper product handling, to regional and national logistics solution.
The company produces high-energy livestock feed using by-products from confectioners, bakeries and other food processors, and the firm’s products is said to serve as an alternative to corn or grain.
According to the company, the recycling process optimizes environmental sustainability by saving millions of pounds of food products from being dumped into landfills.
With its network of haulers, milling plants, distribution centers, and farmers, the company offers a complete managed waste solution for production facilities.
Graycliff Partners managing director Duke Punhong said: “Graybill has carved a unique niche in the animal feed market, providing value to both its suppliers by handling challenging food by-products and waste and its customers by offering a low cost yet nutrient dense livestock feed supplement.
“We look forward to working with our partners at NCK Capital and the team at Graybill to execute the strategic initiatives we have identified and position the company for future growth.”
