Dutch printing press manufacturer MPS Systems said it will showcase its new technology, which allows for real-time data exchange and control at any moment, at the Labelexpo Europe 2017 to be held in Brussels, Belgium, this September.
The technology promotes interaction between MPS printing presses and management information systems (MIS).
The new MPS connectivity technology, dubbed talk to me, resukts in increased printing productivity.
MPS said the talk to me concept is a protocol for exchanging data between MIS and MPS printing presses, to deliver real-time information needed for companies to be productive and remain competitive.
Apart from regular MIS interface, press operators are given access to an extended ‘anytime, anywhere’ functionality through the ‘talk to me’ app, which can be installed on any Android or iOS smartphone or tablet.
The data that will be exchanged from the MIS to the press will include the customer name, press run, colour sequence, tooling, material type and thickness, printing plate code and planning (job queue).
Data from the press to MIS will include the operator, printing speed, metres/yards printed (order status), waste produced (waste sheets), set-up and printing time.
MPS Systems co-founder and technical director Bert van den Brink said: “Our promise to the market is being ‘Operator Focused, Results Driven’. The best way to achieve maximum printing productivity is to ensure that operators have the tools and freedom to get the most out of their machines.
“With ‘talk to me’ we offer just that. I am confident that through constant communication with their printing presses, operators will optimize their performance and, in the process, enjoy increased job satisfaction.”
