Metsä Board’s Natural WKL Bright uncoated white kraftliner has been selected to pack Kyrö Distillery's Napue Gin brand.
Kyrö Distillery searched for a packaging solution that could reflect the brand's spirit, integrating natural raw materials, simple design and simple technologies.
Metsä said its solution was chosen because of its pure, natural and tactile feel. Kyrö Distillery used the solution as both a liner and fluting, which gave a simple and eye-catching white box, which was then stamped in black and silver foil.
The foiling process is said to have generated a light debossing to increase consumer perception of a hand-crafted box.
The Napue Gin gift packaging was manufactured by Pyroll in Finland, while design Werklig developed Kyrö Distillery’s branding, designed the gift packaging. Keeping in line with the brand, the graphical style was restrained, so that the focus from the gin, its content and quality is not shifted.
Colours used in the packaging were also claimed to have been kept at minimum, where only black and white with silver, copper and gold accents – silver for clear, unaged spirits and copper for matured ones. Gold has been reserved for its upcoming rye whisky.
According to Metsä Board, its lightweight paperboards have been developed to offer better, safer and sustainable packaging solutions for consumer goods, along with retail-ready and food service applications.
In 2016, the company claims to have made €1.7bn in sales with a workforce of 2500. The company caters to customers around the world including brand owners, retailers, converters and merchants.
