A robust plastic lid that secures loads to any wooden or plastic pallet, eliminating the need for disposable strapping and shrinkwrap, has seen another successful application.
With a single bottle of champagne costing up to £8,000, CERT Logistics, a UK bonded warehousing and fine wine and spirit distribution specialist, is using the Loadhog system from the Sheffield company of the same name to ensure safe handling of returns.
CERT commercial director Laurence Abel explains: “People can tend to pay lip-service to returns. If there are only a few bottles or a couple of cases it’s difficult to ensure they are loaded and transported without damage in a full trailer which can carry 26 pallets of stock. There is also the chance of tampering and theft.”
Loadhog says its lid’s engineered design provides “much greater security” of loads during stacking and transportation, and claims the lid is safer and easier to use than conventional wrapping and strapping. It has an anti-skid surface and incorporates RFID for maintenance and tracking.
