Next-generation packaging solutions start-up LivingPackets has introduced a sustainable, smart packaging solution for eCommerce which is claimed to lower costs, streamline logistics, and reduce environmental impact.
The new sustainable and trackable shipping box, dubbed LivingPackets THE BOX, is said to generate almost zero packaging waste, and is designed to target €3,000bn ecommerce market.
The smart box has been designed to hold contents up to 5kg and can be reused up to 1000 times prior to being recycled for infinite usage.
LivingPackets’ new box features real-time environmental monitoring capability, including location, temperature, humidity, shocks and opening.
The box is also provided with an integrated camera for remote viewing of the contents.
An automatic holding system enables to avoid the use of filling materials such as bubble-wrap that needs hundred of years to decompose in landfills.
The new box incorporates an electronic address display, making all packaging stickers obsolete simplifying forward and reverse logistics.
According to the company, all the features of the new box are protected by global patents.
The new box also improves the online shopping experience by enabling customers to either pay or return a shipment by pressing a button on the packaging.
Users and packaging collection points are incentivized to return the boxes, as well as keep them in perpetual circulation.
LivingPackets said it is offering ecommerce and logistics providers the chance to immediately participate in the mass-market adoption of the new packaging solution. The new box can also be custom-branded.
The company is providing a specific program to better serve logistics, ecommerce players and financial investors.
