Prime Cook, a convenient pack for ‘quick roast’ joints by leading food packaging manufacturer, LINPAC (Klöckner Pentaplast), was highly commended in the innovation category of last week’s UK Packaging Awards.
Prime Cook, the result of a collaboration between LINPAC (Klöckner Pentaplast), Dunbia and Coop, was awarded the accolade for its role in helping to significantly reduce the time required to cook a joint of lamb or beef in a conventional home oven.
The vacuum skin pack has been designed to withstand immersion – after packing – in a hot water bath to allow the joint to be partially cooked sous vide. A unique perforated rPET insert captures and conceals juices released in the sous vide process to retain optimum on-shelf presentation.
The process enables the average homeowner to remove the beef or lamb roasting joint from the packaging and cook it using a conventional oven tray for just 30 or 45 minutes respectively.
“We’re delighted that Prime Cook has been recognised for innovation at the UK Packaging Awards” commented Helene Roberts, Director of Global Marketing and Innovation at LINPAC (Klöckner Pentaplast).
“This pack required a complex and lengthy development phase to enable it to function exactly as it should, under challenging cooking conditions. I’d like to say a huge well done to everyone involved in this project for their contribution to realising the final design.”
Co-op Beef and Lamb Quick Cook Roasts are available in selected Co-op stores across the UK.
