Launch of FFEI Graphium digital UV inkjet press is ‘major step’

Digital imaging solutions specialist FFEI is to unveil its “next generation” narrow web digital UV inkjet press, Graphium, in September at Print13, Chicago and LabelExpo, Brussels.

Digital imaging solutions specialist FFEI is to unveil its “next generation” narrow web digital UV inkjet press, Graphium, in September at Print13, Chicago and LabelExpo, Brussels.

According to the UK-based company, Graphium is the industry’s “most productive”, modular digital UV inkjet press with high opacity digital white, for the production of labels, packaging and speciality print.

By combining a range of leading-edge digital inkjet technologies, Graphium is said to allow users to convert complex jobs that are not economically viable with standalone conventional or inkjet presses, “transforming productivity, profitability and the ability for printers and converters to respond to dynamic product and market changes”.

Graphium combines innovative workflow, prepress, colour management software and cutting-edge Xaar 1001 head calibration technology, to ensure consistent quality through repeatable production.

“This guarantees a match between press and proof, aligning to colour standards,” the company says. Printers and converters are therefore able to benefit from high-quality, vibrant printing, with “excellent adhesion, light fastness and durability”.

Andy Cook, FFEI managing director, says: “We are on a mission to transform the digital labels, packaging and specialty print market, and Graphium represents a major step towards achieving this goal.

“Bring low capital investment, high quality print, unparalleled productivity and the most versatile range of applications together, and you have a ‘cost-in-use’ that defines Graphium as the most productive, high opacity digital white press on the market.”

Graphium uses specialist Uvijet Graphium UV curing inks developed by Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems.

The inks are said to combine the functional performance, colour gamut and adhesion needed for label printing with reliable jetting performance required for consistent printing.

The new press also takes advantage of corona pre-treatment, web clean, inter-colour pinning and Adaptive Screening Technology – all supplied as standard to ensure “superior quality” digital production.

FFEI’s new Graphium will be on view at Print13, Chicago, 8-12 September and LabelExpo, Brussels, 24-27 September 2013.
