Labeling error forces Hail Merry to recall Lemon Mini Miracle Tarts products

Plant-based snack food firm Hail Merry has issued a voluntary recall of Lemon Mini Miracle Tarts Party Packs of 6 over a labeling error.

The company said the products feature cashews as listed on the Ingredients label, but the contains allergen warning statement does not specifically identify cashews.

Consuming the product can be particularly risky and in some cases, life-threatening for people with cashew allergy.

The recalled Lemon Mini Miracle Tarts Party Packs of 6 are said to have been distributed across the US in retail stores.

The recall was issued after the company received a complaint from a consumer who identified the error. The recall does not affect any other Hail Merry product.

Hail Merry said the recalled products can be identified by a bright yellow sleeve reading “Meyer Lemon Mini Miracle Tarts” and wrapped around a black tray featuring 6 miniature lemon tarts.

The net weight of the product is mentioned as 4.65oz on the front of the sleeve, and the UPC code 816247010876 on the back.

Hail Merry stated that it has stopped distribution of the affected inventory as of 19 May and new packaging with the required modification has already been created. The product is expected to be placed in the distribution in the next few weeks.

Consumers who have purchased Hail Merry Meyer Lemon Mini Miracle Tarts Party Pack of 6 are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
