Kendall Packaging installs W&H MIRALFEX II AM press at KS plant in US

US-based flexible packaging solutions provider Kendall Packaging has invested in a 10c MIRAFLEX II AM press from Windmoeller & Hoelscher (W&H) for the expansion of its KS plant in Pittsburg.

The installation of the 10c MIRAFLEX II AM Press marks the completion of the $10m expansion of Kendall’s KS plant.

Kendall said that the expansion involved adding 59,000ft2 in area as well as installation of advanced machinery including solvent-free laminating and slitting to the existing facility.

The flexible packaging manufacturer earlier said it intends to expand the area of the facility in a bid to double its production capacity. The expansion involves installation of necessary new equipment worth $6m to the production platform.

Kendall President Eric Erickson III said: “Our most recent investment in the MIRAFLEX press technology insures that we will continue to have a positive impact on brand value through consistency, repeatability and overall package integrity.

“By partnering with W&H, we are able to further address our broader corporate sustainability goals, including general waste reduction, lower energy consumption and better overall environmental stewardship.”

The MIRAFLEX II AM press features W&H’s fully-integrated VISION web inspection system with Defect Check and Color Check. 

Other features of the press include the TURBOCLEAN ADVANCED E inking and wash-up system with electric pulsation-free pumps designed to reduce both ink and energy consumption.
