Hexion will launch a large volume resin packaging for the wind energy industry, the Hexi-Bag packaging system, at the Composites Europe event which is due to be held on 19th-21st September, 2017 in Stuttgart, Germany.
The new system, which offers wind blade manufacturers with various benefits such as efficiencies and cost advantages, was designed with epoxy adhesive resins and associated hardeners of Hexion.
The Hexi-Bag, which has a capacity of 900-1,000 liters, minimizes residual material in the packaging to less than one percent which will lead to the reduction in the internal shipping costs. The firm will unveil the new packaging at hall C2, booth B06.
Hexion senior project manager Karl Eichler said: “Over the past ten years, the average length of a rotor blade has grown from 45 to 60 meters. As the resin volumes required for each blade continue to increase, it’s a logical step for us to provide more efficient, larger volume packaging solutions for our customers.
“When using the Hexi-Bag, not only is less material lost to waste, it’s also possible to save up to 80 percent on internal transport costs. These cost savings can provide advantages to customers in the competitive wind-power industry.”
Hexion Stuttgart has partnered with the Finnish company Fluid-Bag to offer transfer station for material change to its customers.
