In just four years since its launch, the two-hundredth Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 74 UV has recently been dispatched for Lisbon based print shop, Olegário Fernandes-Artes Gráficas SA.Marking the special occasion, Jürgen Rautert, director for engineering and manufacturing at Heidelberg, presented a certificate to the customer. It is hoped that the new machine will enable the Portuguese print shop to expand into the new inmould label market and produce inserts for plastics packaging. The print shop’s existing equipment includes three Speedmaster SM 74 presses, two Gallus and two Comco narrow web label system. The Speedmaster CD 74, a six colour UV press with double coating unit, features integrated UV technology for UV applications. The press is said to offer a number of health and safety advantages. It received the "Optimized UV printing" certificate in 2003 from the German Institution for Statutory Insurance and Prevention. With its integrated CAN bus, the press offers ease of operation for dryers from the CP 2000 control station plus safety shutdowns if production is disrupted, says Heidelberg.
