PET keg supplier Petainer has collaborated with China’s Great Leap Brewing to begin manufacturing petainerKeg in 2019.
Great Leap Brewing has announced manufacturing partnership, as a result of growing demand for draught beer in the country and the suitability of one-way PET kegs where logistics are complex.
In September this year, Petainer and Blue PET have started manufacturing of petainerKeg for Brazilian market.
Petainer is also having manufacturing operations in Europe, the US and Australia.
Great Leap Brewing founder and brewmaster Carl Setzer said: “The Chinese craft beer market is growing, which means industry has to find a cost-effective, efficient way of transporting beer over long-distances.”
The blow moulding facility in Tianjin, which features APF-30 machine with Pet technologies will produce petainerKeg for the domestic market, in addition to serving as the manufacturing hub for Petainer’s Asia region.
Great Leap Brewing will also self-produce kegs at the plant, as part of its own business development strategy.
The facility will manufacture Petainer’s 20L Hybrid keg, which is said to be one of the first one-way PET keg to use a circular economy design to help increase recycling and reuse.
The petainerKeg is a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to traditional stainless-steel kegs, and is designed for drinks producers such as breweries.
In addition, Petainer’s Classic and USD keg will be produced at the facility.
Petainer Group chief executive Hugh Ross said: “I am pleased to announce our strategic partnership with Great Leap Brewing.
“Manufacturing in the world’s biggest beer market is a major step for Petainer and one which allows us to serve the market efficiently and sustainably by bringing the supply chain to the market.”
Petainer has invested in its existing sites and developed a new warehouse at its Aš plant in the Czech Republic to meet its current and future growth plans.
In Sweden, the company will build a new warehouse beside its Lidköping plant in Sweden, enabling to increase storage capacity, reduce logistics and carbon footprint.
Petainer also advanced its injection-moulding capability at its Klin plant in Russia to increase supply of preforms for petainerKeg.
