Armenia-based print firm Grand Master has purchased its fifth Koenig & Bauer Rapida 106 sheet-fed offset press as part of its effort to modernize its production.
The press is planned to be installed later this month at Grand Master’s production facility in Ararat region. The facility comprises 43 printing and finishing units.
Grand Master produces packaging primarily for the tobacco industry. It also possesses equipment to handle the complete process from design and prototyping, through to actual folding carton production.
With the installation of the fifth press, Grand Master will be switched fully to sheet-fed offset presses from Koenig & Bauer. It will complement the existing four Rapida 106 presses are already in use at the company.
Grand Master plans to make further investments this year to boost corrugated production capacities. It also plans to invest in a paper recycling factory.
Koenig & Bauer said in a statement: “With the exception of one 6-color press with coater and extended delivery, Grand Master has each time chosen an 8-color configuration with in-line coating facilities and fully automatic plate changing. This means it operates 43 Rapida 106 printing and finishing units.”
The five Rapida presses opted by Grand Master feature board-handling accessories and stand on 450mm raised foundations.
With speeds of up to 18,000 sheets per hour, the presses’ automation features include automatic non-stop pile changing at the feeder, non-stop roller racks in the delivery, FAPC plate changers and multi-function CleanTronic washing systems.
Additional features of the presses include the environment-friendly VariDryBlue dryers installed in the swan neck and the delivery extension, while the qQuality assurance is handled with QualiTronic Professional.
Koenig & Bauer said that Grand Master will use all the five presses to implement a new workflow based on LogoTronic Professional.
Last year, International food service packaging provider Southern Champion Tray (SCT) has installed a new Koenig & Bauer (KBA) Rapida 106 41-inch seven-color press at its facility in Mansfield, Texas, US, to support continued growth.
Southern Champion Tray is engaged in production and distribution of paperboard packaging products for the bakery, food service and custom retail markets.
