Gordian Strapping has delivered two end-of-line packaging systems to TE Connectivity for its energy division UK office in Witham, Essex.
Formerly known as Tyco Electronics, the Swiss firm is into designing and manufacturing of connectivity and sensor solutions.
Each of the two packaging lines from Gordian Strapping supplied to it comprises an Automatic Case Sealer and an Automatic Strapping Machine. Also in the packaging lines are powered infeed and gravity outfeed conveyors.
According to Gordian Strapping, the new equipment that was supplied to TE Connectivity was part of a continuous programme for their Kitting Lines.
TE Connectivity manufacturing engineering manager Russell Lagden said: “We needed a quick response, both on the initial quotation and the installation. We also wanted to work with a Company that could offer a turnkey solution. Gordian ticked all the boxes."
Before installing the new equipment, TE Connectivity was hand taping boxes prior to their dispatching to customers across the world. By deploying an automated case sealing and strapping operation, the company is said to have greatly enhanced pack security besides boosting overall operating efficiency of the packaging lines.
Gordian Strapping stated that prior to feeding into the P25 Automatic Random Case sealer, kits are assembled upstream in corrugated boxes. The P25 sealer it says is capable of applying tape to both the top and bottom flaps.
Upon closing and sealing of the top flaps, powered roller conveyors send the packs into the StraPack RQ-8A FB6 automatic strapper which applies a pre-fixed number of straps.
Compatible with conveyor speeds of up to 30m/min, the RQ-8A FB6 strapper has features like Easy Strap Loading, Self-Diagnostic Function, Variable Tension up to 80kg, and Self-Correcting Technology, stated Gordian Strapping.
