German primary packaging solutions provider Gerresheimer is set to unveil new Gx ready-to-fill vials at CPhl Worldwide event in Frankfurt.
The event will take place between 24 and 26 October.
Customers will be provided with identically packaged sterile injection vials from two different manufacturers, including Gerresheimer’s RTF vials with Ompi EZ-fill packaging process.
Gerresheimer’s two solutions, including the glass forming of vials from tubular glass and ready-to-fill processing of prefillable glass syringes, will be aggregated with Ompi EZ-Fill packaging technology.
The Gx RTF vials are washed, packed in trays or in nests and tubs and sterilized before being supplied to pharmaceutical customers.
The new product is currently available in 2R, 6R, and 10R formats in nests and tubs, in addition to formats ranging from 4ml to 13,5 ml in tray.
The new packaging solution will enable the vials to use from the development phase of new medications to small or large-scale production.
Gerresheimer has developed Gx RTF injection by using borosilicate glass type I, while the Ompi EZ-fill packaging formats will help to minimize the risk of glass-to-glass contact that could result in breakages, cosmetic defects, and particle contamination.
Gerresheimer plastics and devices management board member Andreas Schütte said: “Our new injection vials meet our customers’ increasing desire for comprehensive solutions.
“By setting up a standardized packaging platform for sterile vials, we are making the process much simpler for the customer.”
Stevanato Group pharmaceutical systems division general manager Mauro Stocchi said: “We are very happy that Gerresheimer is adopting our leading technology. Our scalable solution gives the customer more flexibility, enhances quality and safety, and reduces time to market.”
