Indonesia-based flexible packaging manufacturer PT Panverta has purchased and commissioned new BOBST K5000 2450 machine at its undisclosed facility to expand its offering.
Panverta is engaged in manufacturing packaging films. It produces Cast Polypropylene (CPP) and Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) films and has experience in vacuum metallizing to provide extra value to their film.
The firm’s CPP and LLDPE films are usually used as sealing layer in the flexible packaging for various products such as food, detergents, soap, spices and among others.
The new Bobst metallizer features Bobst processes including AluBond for high adhesion and DarkNight for high barrier metallized film.
Bobst said that the AluBond allows Panverta to improve the bonding performance during the metallization process which is more cost effective than using special resins.
The AluBond metallizing process is capable of achieving high bonding strength on any substrate with values up to 5N/15mm, eliminating the need for chemically treated films.
Additionally, the machine comprises a high rate evaporation source for higher speed of operation and reduced distance between adjacent boats to give better coating uniformity.
PT Panverta director Suherman Tanjung said: “We have a lot of experience in metallizing films and when we needed to expand capacity to meet demand, we decided to also invest in processes which will give more added value to our films.
“BOBST are well-known in the market in particular for its AluBond process and their expertise in this area. The machine is now up and running in the factory and we are very happy with it and look forward to continuing our relationship with BOBST.”
Other features of the Bobst machine include the Hawkeye Pinhole Detector which is designed to monitor system
At full metallizer speed, the detector can detect, count and categorize pinholes and other defects from 0.1mm upwards.
