Federal-Mogul Motorparts has introduced a range of packaging-related product security features for its FP Diesel replacement engine and sealing components.
The company said it launched brand protection solutions initiative to stop counterfeiting and make sure that FP Diesel products continue to be premium-quality repair solutions for hardest working engines of the world.
The cartons, which initiate from the company’s manufacturing plant in Skokie, Illinois, US, include automated authentication package labels.
The SmartAuthentication track-and-trace feature uses serial number of the product to locate it along the distribution channel. A mobile app allows customs officials to rapidly authenticate every product.
End customers can use the SmartAuthentication Data Metric code to identify whether their FP Diesel product is authentic or not. The can be read through scanner or via smartphone.
Federal-Mogul Motorparts brand protection and security manager Max Faistenhammer said: "Protecting the integrity of the FP Diesel brand is imperative for the success of Federal-Mogul Motorparts and each of our channel partners and engine professionals who rely on our world-class products.
"The brand protection labeling features combine overt, covert and forensic levels of security allowing, customers to quickly verify that the product they are installing is a genuine FP Diesel part."
Federal-Mogul supplies products and services to the world's manufacturers and servicers of vehicles and equipment in the automotive, light, medium and heavy-duty commercial, marine, rail, aerospace, power generation and industrial markets.
The company, which was established in Detroit in 1899, has its worldwide headquarters in Southfield, Michigan. It employs about 53,000 in 24 countries.
