Dutch trade shop Volkers selected as Bellissima DMS supplier

Aniken Graphics and Apex International have announced that Volkers, a flexo plate and sleeve maker based in Holland, will commence phase one sales with Bellissima Digitally Modulated Screening (DMS).

Aniken Graphics International managing director Nick Harvey said: “Volkers were very keen to be involved in Phase One sales of Bellissima. The Volkers team met with us, and we were impressed by their proactive approach to supporting their customers throughout the packaging process.”

“They demonstrated that they are constantly looking at ways to help their customers and them to stay ahead of the competition by investing in new technologies, Bellissima DMS being the latest example of this.”

Rick Volkers, Managing Director of Volkers, commented: “As a true family business, continuity is extremely important to us. With the world changing faster than before, we want to continue meeting the needs of our customers, stay open to new developments and continue progressing, these are the challenges we face.”

“We support our customers during the packaging process by controlling and simplifying it. We ensure the coordination between the design, the lithography, the plates, and the printing process. We do this by combining high-quality ICT-solutions with traditional graphic craftsmanship.

“This results in more efficient work, more control on the process, allowing us to reduce costs and the time to market. As part of our strategy, we look to new developments like Bellissima DMS, and innovative partners to achieve the best results for our customers.”

Volkers is among a handful of trade shops who are involved in the Phase One roll-out of Bellissima DMS.

“To maximize everyone’s success, Phase One sales of Bellissima DMS involve the use of Apex GTT aniloxes, and MacDermid or DuPont plates. We know that this proven technology solution works ‘out of the box.’” Harvey concludes.

Printers wishing to test the technology can enquire via the dedicated www.bellissimadms.com website. Alternatively, they can contact their local Apex sales representatives or the trade shops for their specific regions.

Using Bellissima, high-quality prints equivalent to 350-450 lpi are produced with unrivaled image reproduction and no color shifts on misregistration.

Utilizing fixed palette inks the screening delivers smooth flat tints and moiré free prints. Vignettes fade smoothly to nothing enabled by printed highlight dots as low as 1.0% and shadow dots up to 99.5%.

Working optimally at 4,000 dpi, the patented screening includes features such as 100% solid surface patterning options and solid object protection.

Printing press issues including bounce, barring and slur are all reduced significantly, and in some cases, eliminated. Bellissima DMS also delivers on ink savings, which can be augmented by GCR based software, improves the efficiency of the press room, and utilizes existing printing press equipment.

Phase One sales of Bellissima DMS includes trade shops, converters and flexographic printers currently using Apex GTT anilox rolls and sleeves together with MacDermid Graphics Solutions’ LUX® ITP™ 60 or DuPont’s EFX plates.
