DS Smith Plastics is set to exhibit its reusable transit packaging solutions at the LogiMAT event in Germany, which is due to be held between 13 March and 15 March.
At the event, the company will showcase a new line of foldable bulk containers, which are developed to control costs associated with logistics management.
DS Smith’s new polypropylene plastics foldable container features thermoformed lid and pallet, as well as customizable sleeve.
The height of the sleeve is customized to optimize cargo utilisation and transportation costs when full.
The sleeve can be folded and shipped flat when empty, helping to control costs associated with returned logistics.
According to the company, all three components are reusable for up to seven years and can be recycled at the end of their useful life.
The new container product line will help improve logistics and decrease the cost associated with warehousing, material handling, transportation and returned logistics, said DS Smith.
DS Smith’s plastic division produces flexible packaging, filling equipment, liquid dispensers, rigid packaging returnables and foam products.
The division provides a range of corrugated plastic extruded products under various brands such as Akylux, Akyprint, Akyboard, Akyplen and Akyver.
Its corrugated extruded products include one way and returnable light weight packaging, bulk containers and PP sheets for graphics.
The company’s convertible, lightweight and durable corrugated plastics sheets can be customized as per the graphics and packaging requirements.
The polypropylene sheets can be converted into packaging such as boxes, cases, and returnable transport containers.
In December 2017, DS Smith opened a new specialty packaging plant in Kielce, Poland.
The new 5,000m² facility has been developed to produce advanced corrugated cardboard packaging for the automotive industry.
It includes specialty packaging department, which serves customers in assorted industrial markets, including automotive, white goods and logistics.
