DS Smith develops new packaging for Whitworths’ new snacking range

Packaging firm DS Smith has developed new packaging solution for the UK-based Whitworths’ new ‘Full of Super’ product range.

A supplier of fruit, nuts and seeds, Whitworths has selected DS Smith to develop new packaging for its new series of healthy snacks which focuses on ‘superfood’ ingredients such as acai, quinoa and cacao.

DS smith has provided the ready digital print capabilities for the new range, which included six different products.

The firm said that latest digital print technology was used for the new retail ready pack (RRP) to deliver the brief despite being for an initial low volume.

Whitworths packaging innovation manager Mark Oaten said: “This is the first time we have used digital print for retail ready packaging, and we are delighted with the quality and image fidelity of print across the range.”

Whitworths will use the RRP as part of the promotion mix to fully support the brand.

Recently, DS Smith has designed new packaging solution for Spain-based brewery La Virgen.

A 6-pack holder has been designed by DS Smith with a logo featuring a woman wearing a red carnation in her black hair.

DS Smith offers corrugated packaging and plastic packaging solutions to its customers. The firm employs more than 26,000 people and operates across 36 countries.

The firm produces a range of solutions, including transit packaging, consumer packaging, displays and promotional packaging, customized protective packaging and industrial packaging.
