Disc, a source of specialty packaging solutions, announced its most recent win for outstanding consumer packaging.
The packaging collection for the Sapelo line of luxury skin care products received an American Graphic Design Gold Award from Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) magazine. “The Sapelo folding cartons are emblematic of what a luxury skin care brand package should reflect,” said John Rebecchi, senior vice president of marketing and new business development for DISC. “The carefully crafted graphics seemingly etched in gold against a pale green lacquered background are framed with a gold border. Upon opening the box, the consumer is rewarded with a floral graphic printed on the inside with the brand message Modern Skin Care Inherited from the South. In our view, the carton is a well-executed blend of refined beauty and pampered luxury.”
The cartons are the result of a collaboration between the Sapelo team, led by Cindy Edwards and Stephanie Duttenhaver, the designer Emily McCarthy, and DISC’s production team. According to Stephen Frey, senior vice president of sales for DISC, “with the customer’s input, we focused our attention on producing cartons that complimented the primary packaging’s design aesthetic and expressed the sense of luxury that is critical to the brand. The attention to every detail helped make this an award winning packing design.”
GDUSA 54th annual American Graphic Design Awards™ received over 10,000 entries and only a selective 10% were designated as winners. According to Gordon Kaye, GDUSA editor, graphic design is among the fastest growing professions in this country with its importance increasingly recognized in commerce, culture, and causes.”
