Crown Food Europe has opened a new easy-open end manufacturing facility in Nagykörös, Hungary, to serve pet food and vegetable brands across Europe.
The facility features two lines that manufacture 65mm and 73mm diameter ends.
The new lines are suitable for use in applications, including pet food, vegetables and ready meals.
The 73mm line turned into operational in the middle of 2017, while the 65mm line has been installed at the end the same year. Both lines will serve customers across the continent on a daily basis.
According to Crown, the new facility operates in compliance with the firm’s quality standards and meets customers’ needs for service at every level.
Crown Food Europe senior marketing and communication manager Laetitia Durafour said: “European food can volume growth is largely being driven by the Eastern countries, while production in the Western region has remained relatively level.
“This growth is generated by developing regions in Eastern Europe, where preserved foods are popular and metal cans remain the preferred packaging type in terms of product preservation, presentation and added value.
“Creating a dual line facility in Eastern Europe highlights Crown’s long-term commitment to the region, while also ensuring easy open ends are available to its customers across the continent via a well-established distribution network.”
Crown provides a range of food packaging solutions, which can be used for fruit, vegetables, dairy, fish, meat, ready meals, pet food, infant milk powder and other dry food products.
The firm produces various food cans such as round cans, shaped cans, bowl cans and food ends.
Crown’s PeelSeam opening system can be used for a range of single-serve ready-to-eat (RTE) foods. It is designed to run across over-pressure retorts and conventional filling and seaming equipment.
Through its subsidiaries, Crown provides packaging solutions to the consumer marketing companies across the globe.
