Crown Embalagens Metálicas da Amazônia (Crown Brazil) has designed new aluminum beverage can for flavored water of Brazilian firm Eklo Water.
Crown has provided sleek style 310ml (10.5 ounce) beverage cans for two flavors, including red berry and citrus.
The cans have been manufactured at Crown's facility in Cabreúva.
Eklo Water’s new flavors are sweetened by the natural extract of stevia, as well as free from sodium, calories and preservatives.
Eklo Water is providing new flavors at retail stores, bars and restaurants in Rio de Janeiro. It is also planning to carry out market testing on additional flavors in this year.
Eklo Water co-owner Fabio Nono said: “While we originally launched the drink in cartons, we transitioned to sleek style beverage cans as we are seeing consumers display an increased preference for package attributes such as portability, eye-catching design and overall durability.”
Crown Brazil commercial operations director Altair Frulane said: “Beverage cans play a pivotal role in addressing the needs of natural and organic foods. For example, metal serves as an impenetrable barrier to light, air and moisture, protecting the integrity and nutritional value of the products they contain without preservatives.”
Through its subsidiaries, Crown provides packaging solutions to consumer marketing companies across the globe.
In December 2017, Crown agreed to acquire Signode Industrial Group Holdings (Bermuda) from Carlyle Group for $3.91bn.
Signode provides transit packaging systems and solutions, including strap, stretch and protective packaging consumable products.
The company also produces packaging tools and equipment, which can be used for the bulk packaging materials.
