Clariant launches EcoTain label concept for personal care applications

Clariant has introduced new EcoTain in Personal Care concept at this year’s Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) exhibition in Shangai, China, which is being held from 19 March to 21 March.

EcoTain sustainable excellence label will be provided to products, which exceed market standards.

The new label concept will help formulators to easily identify smart and eco-friendly ingredients.

The product package offers a complete overview of related aspects, including vegetal origin, high renewable content (RCI), convenient formulation, use of responsibly-sourced palm based materials with RSPO mass balance certification and data transparency, compatibility with eco-labels, as well as low carbon and water footprint or reduced waste

Clariant has provided EcoTain label to its Perlogen SF 3000 liquid pearlizing concentrate, which is produced with a patented low-energy continuous blending process.

According to the company, actives, care ingredients, emulsifiers/solubilizers, hair care, preservatives and surfactants are among the current 32 EcoTain-labeled ingredients for personal care applications.

Clariant sustainability manager Martina Beitke said: “Today, customers expect innovative products and solutions to meet the requirements of sustainability and efficiency.

“Our product assessment helps our customers in Personal Care to understand how to achieve internal targets, for example, by using products which need a lower dose, are natural or plant-based, or which save energy due to their multifunctionality or easy handling.

“We are pleased to present the industry with a comprehensive portfolio of solutions and clear and concise information to support sustainable formulations.”

In February this year, Clariant, along with its healthcare packaging business unit, has introduced a new EQius brand, which accommodates products and technology related to equilibrium relative humidity (ERH) stabilization.

EQius brand includes the company’s currently marketing products such as EQ-Pak packets, EQ-Can canisters, EQ-Stopper closures and EQ-Bag bags.

EQius brand products are developed by using specially engineered sorbents that serves as humectants (desorbers) and desiccants (adsorbers) simultaneously, helping to maintain a specific equilibrium relative humidity inside product packaging.
