Structural designers are being challenged to “get smart” by Reed Exhibitions’ Packaging Innovation Show 2005, taking place from September 27-29 at Birmingham’s NEC.
The GET Smart 2020 Vision Design Challenge, which follows the success of a similar feature at last year’s Total Processing & Packaging exhibition, asks designers to envisage how smart, active and other intelligent packaging techniques, plus their own “visionary ideas” can create consumer-centred designs for the year 2020.
Commercial agencies can enter packs or systems that incorporate their vision of inclusive consumer packs and products, which will be displayed within the 2020 Vision Design and Innovation Centre at the show.
Categories include the kitchen, the breakfast table, the dinner table, the drinks cabinet, the medicine cabinet, the bathroom/bedroom and “out and about”.
The centre and challenge are sponsored by Rexam, Eastman Chemical Company, Field Packaging, Easi-bind, Faraday Packaging Partnership, MY Healthcare and design agencies PDD, Siebert Head, The Brewery, PI3 and Kinneir Dufort.
