US-based general line rigid containers provider BWAY has acquired the assets, and certain liabilities of Ball Corporation's metal packaging business in Hubbard, Ohio, US.
The assets acquired by BWAY include Ball’s paint and general line can manufacturing facility in Hubbard.
The facility is equipped to produce certain general line, household products and specialty metal containers.
BWAY president and CEO Ken Roessler said: "This business is an excellent fit with the Company's core market, add-on acquisition strategy.
“In addition to sales growth, this acquisition provides added capacity to enable us to better serve our customers on a national basis."
Employing approximately 70 people, the facility was acquired by Ball in 2006 as part of the company's acquisition of US Can Corporation.
Ball and aerosol packaging chief operating officer Jim Peterson said: "In today's competitive landscape, we must maintain our focus on generating positive EVA dollars and continue to maximize value in our core businesses to be successful over the long term.”
Recently, Ball Corporation announced its plan to cease production at its facility in Recklinghausen, western Germany at the end of July 2017.
The firm plans to cease the facility's operations after completion of due negotiation and agreement with the Works Council.
US-based Ball Corporation is engaged in supplying sustainable packaging solutions for beverage, food and household products customers, as well as aerospace and other technologies and services.
