UK-based cardboard and packaging manufacturer Broad24 is investing £5m at its sheet feeder operation in Preston, England.
The move follows the company’s £11m investment and installation of a second 2.5m BHS machine in 2015.
The company received planning approval for a 4000m2 extension, which will enable in fully optimising the two corrugators sites across six production shifts.
With the investment, Broad24 expects to deliver growth and first class service requirements for its key and strategic customer base.
The investment will increase loading and storage capacity by 30% and remove the potential for bottlenecks through a forth material handling line, fully integrated into the existing system.
Board24 Preston operations manager Eric Marshall said: “We are already at advanced stages of recruitment for our sixth shift. In September we will be installing a new pallet line and conveyors, the first stage in what we envisage will be an 18 month project.”
