AVT to acquire Graphic Microsystems

Manufacturer of pressroom automation equipment Graphic Microsystems (GMI) is to be acquired by AVT from Dover Diversified, a subsidiary of Dover Corp, for $33M. The deal is expected to close, on completion of due diligence, in September, 2007.AVT, known for its automatic inspection systems for printing applications, and is a market leader in packaging and labels, print process control and quality assurance applications. GMI is a supplier of closed loop colour control systems, colour management and reporting software and remote digital ink fountain control systems. The company is based in California, Texas and Belgium, with a network of sales offices in North America and Europe, as well as a worldwide service network. AVT intends to maintain these operations.Shlomo Amir, president and ceo of AVT, said: “The merger creates a major technology provider for the printing industry and brings AVT into a whole new league. GMI operates in adjacent print markets to AVT; its colour technology complements our vision technology. This synergy provides a strong platform for further expansion, organic and non organic.”
