Up to 33 make-up compacts/min can be filled, closed and labelled on a new five-station assembly and packing line recently supplied by Schubert automated packaging subsidiary International Packaging Systems (IPS) to cosmetics manufacturer Noiro’s Finnish factory.

Closed, empty compacts are fed into a Schubert TLM-F44 machine where they are opened, scanned and placed on a central conveyor belt by a TLM-F4 robot. At subsequent stations the pressed powder trays are inserted, along with make-up applicators supplied from a storage hopper and multi-track vibratory conveyor.
The compacts are then checked by an optical quality scanner before closing and transportation to the labelling station, where a pre-printed, counter-checked label is applied to each case.
IPS says switching between different packaging configurations can be completed “in minutes’ thanks to a “user-friendly” software programming facility and quick-change tooling.
