Walki, a manufacturer of technical laminates and protective packaging materials, has unveiled its new green field plant at Wroclaw in Poland.
The new plant, which has a production capacity of about 50,000t per year, will initially meet the needs of consumer packaging and forest industry segments.
According to the company, construction of its Wroclaw plant took less than seven months to complete and the plant started commercial production in July 2013.
Built with extrusion and latest automation technology, the new plant is said to reduce lead times as raw materials are closely available at the site.
Walki president and CEO Leif Frilund said that the company considers Central Europe as its main markets.
"Customers can expect to have their deliveries supplied within two weeks," Frilund said.
Besides, the company has installed a 10-colour flexo-printing machine at the Jatne plant to produce ream wrap mainly for the wrapping of A3 and A4 copy paper reams.
The machine line uses 100% water-based colors to cut down the environmental impact.
Walki now operates a total of three plants in Poland including Kwidzyn plant near Gdansk.
