Finland-based Stora Enso has deployed the cloud-based data management platform of Rubrik at its paper mill in Langerbrugge, Ghent to safeguard its virtual and physical workloads.
Headquartered in Helsinki, Stora Enso provides renewable solutions in packaging, biomaterials, paper and wooden constructions on global markets.
Its mill at Langerbrugge has an annual production of 540,000 tons of recycled newsprint and magazine paper.
The mill uses 70% of its power consumption from two biomass-fueled combined heat and power plants (CHP's) operated by the company.
Stora Enso has deployed the software-only appliance Rubrik Edge to protect the seven remote office environments of the Langerbrugge mill across the UK, Belgium and France. With the deployed software, the mill can deliver automated backup, instant recovery, search, and platform analytics for all the office environments.
Rubrik co-founder and CEO Bipul Sinha said: “By deploying our Cloud Data Management platform, the company is leveraging a single software fabric to bring management simplicity to all its workloads, no matter where the data resides.”
The Rubrik software will also give a centralized, policy-driven solution for the entire environment of the Langerbrugge mill which was earlier struggling with poor backup performance, complex management, and long restores.
Stora Enso IT System Engineer Benny T'Jaeckx said: "Stora Enso Langerbrugge supports three production units and five sales offices. It is imperative that we have visibility into all our data and speed of recovery to ensure our operational continuity across all our environments.
“Rubrik Edge eliminates complex data management across multiple sites, delivering scalable growth and one-click restores at remote sites.
"Our previous solution was prone to backup failures and irregular notifications. Rubrik offers proactive monitoring and compliance reporting, saving my team headaches and time.”
