Skanem delivers tag integration services as part of Thinfilm’s NFC solutions offering

Thin Film Electronics (Thinfilm) has qualified Skanem Group as a label conversion partner for its NFC SpeedTap and OpenSense tags.

The NFC tags of Thinfilm can fully integrate with CNECT cloud-based platform, allowing brands to connect directly with consumers via interactive products, simply by tapping on an NFC smartphone.

To achieve the status of a qualified partner for Thinfilm, Skanem has completed an evaluation program during which it demonstrated its ability to establish and automate key production processes.

Skanem, which manufactures self-adhesive labels, is also said to have met designated standards of manufacturing flow, tag application, process control and in-line testing/ discrimination, product quality, production yield, and transfer/security.

Skanem product & business development executive vice president Maryne Lemvik said: "Skanem prides itself on delivering value to our customers through continuous improvement and innovation.

"With this partnership, Skanem offers its customers the best in NFC-enabled smart labels, which add immense value through more effective promotion, protection, and tracking functionality. We are eager to introduce Thinfilm's NFC solutions to our customer base."

Skanem will now be able to provide the delivery of custom smart label solutions to its customers that feature Thinfilm's NFC tags and technology, integrated software, conversion services, label design, and printing.

By adding Skanem to its ecosystem of partners, Thinfilm expects to effectively increase its reach in European and Asian markets. It can also enable the company to further improve the services and support it provides to existing and future customers.

Thinfilm CEO Davor Sutija said: “Customized solutions and a strong customer focus have positioned Skanem as a leader in the packaging industry for more than a century.

“We are delighted to partner with them and look forward to collaborating in the months and years to come.”
