Sealed Air focuses on sustainability at World Packaging Forum

Sealed Air assessed the impact of food waste and product damage and talked about the importance of food security when assessing overall sustainability at the 2nd World Packaging Forum.

Sealed Air vice president sustainability Dr. Ronald Cotterman stressed on the importance of packaging innovation across the food supply chain and collaboration with groups, such as the China Packaging Federation and AMERIPEN.

In emphasizing packaging performance, Cotterman illustrated examples of food packaging innovations that have resulted in reduced waste and greater security among food manufacturers, retailers and consumers.

According to the firm, it would offer packaging solutions that offer greater protection with lesser environmental impact and reduced costs through the supply chain, by adopting life cycle analysis.

Sealed Air claimed their Cyovac offers total-seal packaging that avoids drips and cross contamination in the supply chain and improves traceability, thereby enhancing food safety.

The role packaging plays in reducing waste with respect to sustainability is crucial, as packaging can extend product quality life, provide effective product protection from damage and cut waste, said the firm.
