RPC UKSC Plenmeller will supply a blow moulded High-density polyethylene (HDPE) jar with an integral vent for Nestlé’s Nescafé Cappuccino, which is expected to help the company to minimise packaging materials and streamline logistics.
Nestlé’s objective to rationalise the production and packaging to improve the overall cost and carbon footprint, has prompted it to shift to a new packaging.
RPC said the previous jar pack of Nestlé’s Nescafé Cappuccino incorporated a complex hinged cap featuring wad, induction heat-seal and venting valve.
Nestlé has approached RPC to manufacture a new 600ml jar, which could be filled with Nescafé Cappuccino. The jar needed to release gases which are created by the booster ingredient added to the powdered products.
The booster ensures that a pleasant cappuccino frothing effect is produced when hot water is added. Without this venting capability, the jar could deform.
After filling, the jar is capped and decorated with a full-body shrink sleeve that also covers the cap to deliver tamper evidence to the product range.
