Global beverage can manufacturer Rexam and Hindustan Tin Works have invested Rs2.5bn ($46m) jointly to set up a new aluminum can line at Rexam’s manufacturing plant in Taloja, Maharashtra, India.
The new production line has an annual capacity of 950 million cans.
Rexam chief executive Graham Chipchase said the latest investment is in accordance with the company’s strategy to grow in faster moving markets.
"It will support and enable us to take advantage of the exciting opportunities the Indian market has for beverage can packaging," Chipchase said.
UK-based Rexam HTW, which ventured into the Indian market in 2007, supports various consumer brands in India through its range of beverage cans.
