Rapak launches Autokap 1700 series bag-in-box liquid packaging equipment

Rapak North America, part of DS Smith Plastics, has introduced new Autokap 1700 series bag-in-box liquid packaging equipment.

The small footprint liquid filling machine holds the bag fixed during the filling process. It supports fresh and stable liquids at hot and cold fill temperatures.

DS Smith said the fixed fill head on the Autokap 1700 filling machine for bag-in-box is a departure from the Autokap 1200 series machine in which the bag raises and lowers during the filling process.

As the bag will be in fixed position in the new series, the cap gripper and fill nozzle will raise and lower as required to fill and recap the bag.

The machine will also keep the bag stationary during filling process to reduce product splash and strain on the bag spout seal. Besides this, it can increase the overall speed if used with a properly sized feed pump.

The Autokap 1700 filling machine can accept bags into the machine spout leading and uses a servo drive for the bag infeed system. Thie servo system, which has been in use for several years now in Autokap 1200 liquid filling machines, allows for smooth and precise bag positioning.

Rapak equipment operations vice president Scott Zweep said: “We are very excited about this new machine offering that incorporates features of our two highest demand fillers – the Autokap 1200 and 1400 series. This machine will help increase the throughputs and efficiencies of our customers’ Bag-in-Box lines.”
