Spanish flexible packaging firm Plásticos Romero will invest EUR3.2m to expand the output of its products including plastic sacks, bags and film at its plant in Molina de Segura in Spain's Murcia region.
The company will upgrade its production equipment and introduce new technology in order to increase output by between 2%-5%.
Plásticos Romero marketing chief Paul Mascaraque said the company is extending its manufacture of recycled bags to converting other traditional products into more eco-friendly packaging through the use of new materials and formats.
The firm is working with two other regional companies and the University of Murcia to produce a microwaveable plastic container for semi-processed foods.
The packaging company has the capacity to turn out up to 35,000 tonnes of packaging per year and has an annual turnover of €60m.
